How To Use This Site

Projects are significant learning experiences in science and technology. Project writeups will lead the student through the complete design and creation of a piece of equipment or experiment. Enough detail will be provided to lead the beginner through the process while encouraging the advanced student to explore alternate approaches to the design. There aren't any Projects published yet, but you might reasonably expect to see projects involving robotics, vehicle simulation, and laboratory equipment in the near future.

Diversions are "lite-weight" projects that emphasize fun and inspiration more than technical challenge. Instruction will be minimal, but sufficient to permit duplication by interested students.

Sandbox items are ideas waiting to be developed. These describe and provide ideas about projects that sound pretty interesting, but which haven't yet gotten enough attention to turn into real hardware. As my thoughts on these potential projects coalesce, I will add notes to the appropriate Sandbox pages. Anyone that wants to use and develop these ideas as a basis for group or class projects is welcome to do so.

The Reference menu provides links to technical reference charts and information. The How-To menu points at pages of instruction in techniques such as soldering, programming, etc. The Suppliers menu provides links to suppliers of equipment and supplies which are useful to the project builder, and on the Shop Here page, Marvin's Tech Lab will offer project kits and specialty parts which are hard to otherwise obtain.
